Let Black Girls Have Their Innocence - A Global Peace Action Project

 Hey guys, welcome back to my blog.

I'm back with another post about my most recent Action Project (which is a project that you make based off all the information you've learned in about 2-3 weeks before,) and it's about raising awareness for the hyper-sexualization and adultification of black women. This is a project by me and my older sister, TG

Global Peace was an activism class we chose to be in for the time between Thanksgiving break and Christmas break. We learned about Gandhi, and what it means to be satyagraha and sarvodaya. Satyagraha means "the force that is generated through adherence to Truth." Nowadays though, it means non-violence. Sarvodaya means the "uplifting of all." For our class we were supposed to come up with a nonviolent way to raise awareness of something. My sister and I made a presentation on how black women are hyper sexualized, and how it's been that way since the slave era. We posted posters holding a QR code linking to our presentation around Chicago train-lines to help spread awareness.
