ReDesigning The Future One Train at a Time
In my school, for the little 3-week term in between both breaks, I am in a class called ReDesign the Future. It's focused on climate change, and how what things we do can either help or destroy our climate. Some FE's (Field Experiences) or in others’ words, field trips, we've gone on are the Lincoln Park Zoo to talk about animals and their different ways of living, Rheaply to talk about where our trash goes, the HIVE came to our school to talk about a bunch of different types of bees, Friends of the Chicago River came to our school to talk about the history of the Chicago River, and last but not least the Plant to talk about aquaponics, which is where you use fish poop to fertilize your plants. For the past week we've been talking about Bill Gates' five grand challenges. They're the biggest areas of the economy that are making the planet warmer. The 5 are: Manufacturing, Agriculture, Transportation, Electricity, and Buildings. The one I that I decided to do was transportation, and this slideshow will show you why.
I think Google Slides was probably the best way to present my project, because I’m just adding all of my work together into one slideshow and showing whoever wants to see it. My favorite part of this class were probably the FE’s, sometimes I like getting out of the classroom and just exploring the city, because we go in all directions. I’m probably most proud of my sketch, I think it’s pretty cool and I like drawing out things. The most difficult part of this class was probably thinking of an idea that hasn’t already been put into action or been done for my AP (Action Project). I then thought of something that not only bothers me, but probably bothers other people, too. The fact that there are very little trains out in the suburbs. And that’s how I overcame my no-idea trouble.
